This history will help the reader understand the fundamentals of the how the "gasolene" industry evolved and the resulting influence on our rural towns. In that history, some early purveyors were local blacksmiths, the early transportation specialists. In the course of my research, a list of 124 blacksmiths along with their locations were compiled and are included in the Appendix.
The reader will be taken on the journey from one side of town followed by the other. As you come to a location, the earliest history of that particular address will be revealed first and then evolve through the decades before moving to the next address. This sample is of the corner of Rt 38 & Rt 47 in Elburn, IL. On the next page in the book, this site is known as Albert's Corner.
